About Us

The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Service (BDMS) is a section under the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Ministry of Communications.

BMS began his operation in the late 1950s at the Old Brunei Airport site. A Meteorological Station was later set up and observations were carried out to meet aviation requirements. Since then, the BDMS has developed into the national agency for the provision of meteorological service.

The BDMS is headed by the Chief Meteorological Officer and consists of 6 Units namely, the Administrative and Management Office, the Observation Unit, the Weather Services, the Climate Data and Information Centre, the Meteorological ICT Unit and the Development Unit.

Under the auspices of the DCA, the BDMS maintains a Weather Forecast Centre which acts also as an Aviation Weather Watch Office, equipped with amongst other things Doppler Weather Surveillance Radar and Satellite Images Reception System. BMS also operates a nationwide network of automatic meteorological stations enabling to monitor real-time weather conditions around the clock.
